Criteria: These scholarships are open to students in the Hispanic community in Virginia; Interested applicants should compose a short essay of one and a half pages articulating how they have demonstrated excellence in the areas of: Leadership, Community Involvement; Academic Excellence; and, Extracurricular Activities; The essay and a copy of your transcript must be submitted directly to the Virginia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce

Scholarship to be awarded to a graduating senior from a high school in Virginia conties of Fairfax, Loudoun, Prince William, Spotsylvania or Frederick; the Maryland counties of Howard, Montgomery, Prince George's, Baltimore, and Anne Arundell; and the West Virginia counties of Berkeley, Jefferson and Morgan

Criteria: Scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior based on an essay contest. Applicants must submit an essay of between 1,000-2,000 words in response to the specific 2009 writing prompt, which can be found at www.communitylevee.org. Applicants will also need to submit a letter of endorsement (500 words or less) from one faculty member as well as another non-related person who can attest to the applicant’s character.

Criteria: Open to any graduating high school senior that lives within the greater Washington, DC metropolitan area (VA, DC, and MD); possesses a cumulative grade point average (GPA) if 2.5 or better on a 4.0 scale; and, plans to attend a four year college or university; students must supply an official transcript and two recommendations, one from a teacher and one from a school counselor; essay of 500 words, double spaced and in 12 point font is also required

Criteria: A senior graduating during the year of Selection from a Loudoun County Public School who intends to extend his or her education via an institution of higher learning, career school, or technical school Student exemplifies extraordinary, consistent support of family, school, community, and/or environment that contributes to beneficial and productive results. This award is character-based, and financial need is not a consideration. A student from each of the Loudoun County public high schools with a graduating class will be selected. Two additional student from the remaining applicants will also be selected. Sponsor’s application must be used.

Criteria: A graduating senior with a parent or guardian who is a current classified employee of Loudoun County Public Schools in one of the following positions: Custodial; Food Service; Maintenance; Transportation; or Warehouse The employee must have been in a qualifying position for at least five contiguous years Funds may be used for any form of post-secondary education including technical and trade schools, and will be paid directly to the educational institution and may be used for multiple years Include copy of FAFSA or SAR

Scholarships available to high school seniors in each juirsdiciton in the service area. Entrants must be a senior who both legally resides in AND attends high school in Virginia. (Loudoun is a designated county for this scholarship.) One first place scholarship of $5,000;one second place scholarship for $3,000; and three $1,000 honorable mentions scholarships will be awarded.

Eligibility each semester will be dependent upon the student maintaining a 2.0 GPA and also maintaining a major within an agricultural-related field.
