Lansdowne is an unincorporated planned community located near Leesburg, Virginia. It is north of State Route 7 and south of the Potomac River. A section of the Potomac Heritage Trail runs through Lansdowne. It is the home of the Inova Loudoun Hospital, The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation, Prison Fellowship[1], and Leisure World of Virginia, a high rise luxury retirement community.
Lansdowne is part of the Washington Metropolitan Area and is approximately 25 miles west of Washington, D.C.

Education
All students in Lansdowne attend schools that are part of Loudoun County Public Schools.
Children who live in Lansdowne attend elementary school at Seldens Landing Elementary School which is located in Lansdowne. Middle school students attend Belmont Ridge Middle School which is also located in Lansdowne. High school students attend Stone Bridge High School in Ashburn.
Lansdowne on the Potomac is a residential community with 2,155 homes; 1,442 detached homes and 713 attached single-family homes.
The focal point of the community is our 30,000 square foot Potomac Club complex. Potomac Club amenities include:
* 25 meter indoor pool, heated whirlpool and locker rooms;
* outdoor resort style pool with spa;
* exercise and aerobics rooms;
* business center with computers;
* meeting rooms;
* ballroom facility;
* game room with pool table, television, air hockey table, foosball and video games.

Two significant bodies of water (Goose Creek and the Potomac River) are in and around Lansdowne. The community includes businesses and residential areas. Businesses include: INOVA Loudoun Hospital, the Lansdowne Resort, Leisure World, The Prison Ministries headquarters, and The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation. The area also includes the Lansdowne Town Center, a mix of residential and retail space. Lansdowne also has a neighborhood elementary school and middle school.
The developer of Lansdowne has dedicated certain areas to Loudoun County, including a natural park on the Potomac, a canoe/kayak launch on Goose Creek, a park integrated with our middle school, and hiking trails and paths.
Lansdowne also is one of the first communities in the Nation to have fiber optic internet service. This technology allows very high speed internet access at an affordable cost.
