Virginia's elected legislators are members of the General Assembly, which meets from January to March every year. State Senators are elected to four-year terms. State Delegates are elected to two-year terms. Elections for state legislators are always held in odd-numbered years.

Members of the Board of Supervisors are elected to four-year terms. The next election will be held in November, 2011. The at-large member (who represents the entire county instead of a single district) serves as Chair, members elect a Vice Chair to a one-year term from among the remaining eight members each January.
